We Are Celebrating Camillian Holiness on the Occasion of All Saints’ Day

San Camillo in gloria

Today is the solemnity which celebrates both the glory and the honour of all saints.

Luigi TezzaOn this happy occasion we therefore want to honour our Holy Father Founder, St. Camillus de Lellis, but also all those who have followed him, carrying on his holiness through his charism.

Beginning with the Blessed Fr. Luigi Tezza (Conegliano 1 November 1841, Lima 26 September 1923), the anniversary of whose birth is indeed today, and the Blessed Mother Giuseppina Vannini (Rome 7 July 1859, Rome Giuseppina Vannini23 February 1911), the Founders of the Sisters daughters of St. Camillus.

In our prayers we also remember the Blessed Maria Domenica Brun Barbantini (Lucca 17 January 1789, Lucca 22 May 1868), who in 1829 founded the Congregation of the Sisters Ministers of the Sick, and the Blessed Fr. Enrico Rebuschini (Gravedona 28 April 1860, Cremona 10 May 1938), and Br. Ettore Boschini (Roverbella 25 March 1928, Milan 20 August 2004), known more simply as Brother Ettore, who devoted his whole life to the homeless of the central station of Milan and then opened ‘shelters’ throughout the world.

rebuschinidomenica brun barbantiniLastly, we want to remember the Venerable Nicola D’Onofrio (Villamagna, 24 March 1943, Rome 12 June 1964), known affectionately as ‘Nicolino’, who dedicated his short life to faith and, being himself ill, to care for the sick.

Like a tree with its strongest branches, St. Camillus and the examples of ‘Camillian Holiness’ today support and strengthen all the Camillians in Fratel EttoreNicola-donofriothe world by their example of lives fully dedicated to the sick following the example of Jesus the Good Samaritan.
