New Superior general of the Order of Camillian Ministers of the Infirm elected

The 59th General Chapter of the Order of Camillian Ministers of the Infirm elected the 61st Superior General: he is Father Pedro Tramontin delegate of the Camillian Delegation in the United States.

The election took place on the first ballot and by a very large majority, a sign of the unity of the Chapter members called to choose the Order’s new leader. Born July 3, 1967, in Salto Veloso, SC. He made his solemn profession in 1992 and was ordained a priest on Sept. 28, 1996. He studied at the Gregorian University earning a bachelor’s degree in Theology and a master’s degree in Spirituality. From 1997 to 2007 he was novice master in São Paulo, Brazil. In 2008 he served as vocation promoter of the Camillian Province of Brazil. In 2009 he was transferred to Milwaukee (WI) USA and has been the delegate since 2013.

Immediately after the election Fr. Tramontin addressed the chapter members with these words:

“I thank you for the trust you have placed in me. Paraphrasing someone more important than me, I too ask you, ‘Pray for me!’ God’s will will be done.
When I realized that it could happen to be elected Superior General my heart began to pound. The only consolation I found were the words that the Crucified One said to our Founder St. Camillus: “Pusillanime, do not be afraid: this is my work, not yours!”
I am aware of the difficulties and challenges we have but I am also aware of our opportunities. In these years that we will spend together we can do so much. I thank the outgoing council that with such fortitude accompanied us in this chapter, I thank them for their service. I consecrated myself many years ago and always my goal has been to serve those most in need. I am a humble servant. I try to be humble, as my parents taught me. I aim to always give my best in the things I do; I have the habit of being a bit of a perfectionist. I would like to thank the definitory who did a great job these days.
I will try to understand what God wants to tell me, what He wants from me.

I am very grateful to serve the Order and I am grateful for all the support I feel is coming from you. You can feel the joy of being together. There is something special about this. I have a phrase that I always carry with me and would like to share with you. “If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together.” This is my invitation to you. Let us go together, the journey will be much better, by going together we will surely go farther.

I ask God for wisdom to guide the Order with all humility so that we can do God’s will and I ask our founder St. Camillus to accompany us and may Mary’s blessing be with all of us. I thank you all again for your trust.
