‘The health-care field is a privileged setting for evangelisation’

The Camillianum implements its goals through an in-depth exploration of questions and issues connected with the world of health and health care and suffering from a Biblical, theological, spiritual, ethical, psychological, sociological and historical point of view. It draws upon the human sciences, above all psychology and sociology, which it uses through a philosophical-anthropological mediation.

camillianum_0Through this overall in-depth approach the Camillianum prepares students for their encounter with sick people and their existential problems (cf. SD, n. 3). Through training in pastoral care in health, the Camillianum states that the health-care field is a privileged setting for evangelisation.

The principal activities that the Camillianum offers are: specific training through a detailed study plan; research in the field of the theology of pastoral care in health; the drawing up pastoral support material and publications at a scientific level through the review Camillianum; congresses and conferences on the theology of pastoral care in health; courses designed for health-care workers who cannot have access to a university licence; and supervision and formation for religious Congregations involved in service to the sick and in pastoral care in health.
