Dear Confreres. Members of the Extended Camillian Family, Employees, Friends and Collaborators

Following the brief news bulletins of the past days, we wish through this letter to share what is on our hearts, and to invite you to join us in seeking to overcome the pain and loss caused by the fact that our Superior General is side lined.

As justice takes its course in the search for truth, we wish to express our concern, affection, and prayer for Fr. Renato

We are saddened at the slant taken by certain newspapers on the recent events.

We have sought in these days to communicate through brief but truthful communiques, and accepted to be interviewed in an effort to put some perspective on recent events.

In this difficult time many people and institutions have supported us in our pain and have been loud in their praise of the witness given by our members throughout the world as we follow the example of St Camillus.

In our efforts to front up to this crisis we have had recourse to the expertise of canon and civil lawyers and have established regular contact with the Congregation for Religious and Consecrated Life

My dear confreres, members of the extended Camillian Family, employees, friends and collaborators, in its long history our Order has faced many difficult moments and has managed to overcome them through its recourse to the Lord, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Queen of the Ministers of the Sick, and Our Holy Father Saint Camillus.

The wounds were healed through the unity of the religious and the renewal of their commitment to the exercise of the merciful love of Christ for the sick.

This is precisely what is required of each one of us right now. By avoiding criticism and judgements on people and events, we can strengthen our sense of belonging to our religious Family, and through our faithful exercise of the charism we can show that what has happened in these days will not interrupt the good work of the Order.

We believe that events planned for the celebration of the IV centenary of the death of the Founder should continue, but be marked by simplicity.

Reflecting on these events of individuals and communities in the light of faith we are invited to live this painful moment in a spirit of purification and renewal. Let us accept this invitation generously.

Dear confreres, brothers and sisters of the extended Camillian Family, employees, friends and collaborators, we thank you most sincerely for your closeness, support and your prayer.

Let me assure you the sick and elderly, called “Our Lords and Masters” by St. Camillus, that our actions have as their goal your welfare. We invite you make an offering of your prayers and suffering at this this particular time.

In Christ and St. Camillus.
