The Camillian Tanzanian Delegation – Perpetual Vows and ordination to Diaconate

TWO CONFRERES TOOK THEIR FINAL VOWS IN DAR ES SALAAM

AND WERE ORDAINED DEACONS THE DAY AFTER

The 12th and 13th of October 2017 were two consecutive days of joy and fraternity in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, for the celebration of Perpetual Vows and ordination to Diaconate of Bro. Raymond Athanass Mukhotya and Bro. Paschal Mapendo Kakule belonging to the Camillian Delegation of Tanzania, of the German Province.

The Profession of Perpetual Vows of our two confreres took place at St. Camillus Yombo Parish, Kiwalani and was accepted by the Tanzania Delegate Superior Rev. Fr. Festo Liheta Atanas. Brother Raymond is the 5th of ten children and comes from Singida (Tanzania), while Brother Pascal, who is the 6th of 11 children, is the first Congolese Camillian of the Order since he comes from Goma, a large town of North Eastern Region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The day after their Final Profession, that is on 13th October 2017, Brother Raymond and Brother Paschal were ordained Deacons by the hands of His Eminence Cardinal Polycarp Pengo, Archbishop of Dar Es Saalam, in St. Charles Lwanga Parish of Dovya, a Camillian Parish administered by Fr. Camiel Neuray, one of the first Camillian missionaries who went to Tanzania from Holland in the early 1960’s. The Camillian Tanzanian Delegation is constituted by 10 religious perpetually professed, 5 students in temporary vows and 2 novices. Their activities go from pastoral work (Muhimbili Hospital) to Parish administration (they run 4 parishes), passing through the physical care of the sick (dispensary) and children’s care (nursery school). All such activities are carried out at a short distance from one another, in a poor area of the Capital City Dar Es Salaam. Presently the Delegation is constituted by only one community, but in November there will be the opening of another community in Morogoro, that will include the students (of philosophy and theology) and a new Parish.
