Typhoon Haiyan: SeS-CTF for the emergency in the Philippines – Nov. 11 2013

1441585_10151990438295395_293457098_nThe typhoon Yolanda (or Haiyan) has sown death and destruction in the Philippines. After the earthquake in the provinces of Bohol and Cebu (October 15, 2013), another calamity caused tens of thousands of death in the Asian archipelago. SeS-CTF (Salute e Sviluppo – Camillian Task Force) intervened immediately to help out with various projects.

SES-CTF: HELP BOHOL PROJECT.

After the earthquake on Bohol-Cebu last October 15, 2013, SeS-CTF have already given intervention in terms of relief operations (provision of food,water, and tarpaulin); medical assitance (medical mission, psychosocial support and medical supplies) and early recovery of families (housing materials) to areas of Loon, Maribojoc, Inabanga and Sagbayan. This intervention of SeS_CTF was made possible through the efforts and warm collaboratioon of Spciety of Ex-Camillian Seminarains in Bohol. Thanks to them. s of Nov. 10, 2013, SeS-CTF interventions are continuing from relief operation to far flung areas, and networking with other existing NGOs.

SES-CTF: HELP SAMAR and LEYTE

SITUATION:

Considered the strongest typhoon for the year, Typhoon Yolanda (International name Haiyan) first landed over Guiuan, Easter Samar on Thursday, 8 November in the direction of Capiz.  It went on towards Tolosa, Leyte; Daanbantayan and Bantayan Island, Cebu and Concepcion, Iloilo in the morning.  In the afternoon it made 2 other landfall on Calamian Group of Islands and Busunga, Palawan before leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the afternoon of Saturday, 9 November.

As of the morning of 10 November, 151 individuals have been reported dead, 23 injured and 5 missing, according to the NDRRMC records.

A total of 982,252 families or 4,450,468 persons were reportedly affected in 1,741 barangays in 343 municipalities in 39 cities in 36 provinces.

A total of 101,762 families or 477,735 persons were displaced.

SES-CTF is closely coordinating with our Community in Calbayog (fr. Nato). A surge team was deployed to Tacloban to have an initial Rapid assessment (2 nurses and 1 doctor) and to coordinate with the local church for networking and partnership. We are coordinating with other agencies in Cebu, Samar and Tacloban to assess the update on the impact of the typhoon Yolanda and have a situational analysis as time progress.
