Haiti: the twenty-fifth anniversary of the foundation of the mission.

On Sunday 15 November 2020, at the Camillian mission of Port au Prince (Haiti), our Haitian confreres commemorated and celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of the foundation of the mission.

The celebration of the Eucharist was presided over by the Bishop of Port au Prince, Monsignor Max Leroy Mésidor. The 100 seriously disabled children of the Foyer Bethléem also took part in the celebration and, on such a special day, felt at the centre of the attention of all those taking part.

At the end of the celebration, Father François Erwan and sisters of the women Ministers of the Sick organized a ‘special’ lunch for poor families in our villages and for families who are provided with a monthly sum for basic foodstuffs. After the lunch each family received a supplementary bag with a kit of food, detergents and disinfectants.

These twenty-five years have been spent well because they are yielding good fruit, a tree full of life, health, instruction and hope. All of this was achieved thanks to you, dear friends, who have supported us down the years and still continue to do. This is also a sign of courage and of a victory over illness, suffering, abandonment and loneliness.

The journey that began twenty-five years ago does not stop here. Indeed, it is continuing in a more rapid, courageous and motivated way than ever before, upheld by the gratitude and smiles of so many men and woman and children who have rediscovered health, welcoming, instruction, homes and work thanks to the commitment and the large hearts of everyone.
